Fall Decorating On a Budget

***Fall Decorating On a Budget***

Fall is here, well at least in most of the country.  In Arizona we are still in the high 90’s, but we had a huge cool down yesterday which got me into the fall spirit.  Shopping isn’t in the cards today, so I thought I would pull out some items from the dollar store and throw a few things together. It was so fun!

Do you remember the wooden box I created?

Wooden BoxIf you missed it… see how I built it here.

It’s been in my garage without a home in my new house.  Now, it definitely has a new home on my kitchen table.  It currently sports some Halloween, fun, fall decorations.  Did I mention they are mostly from the Dollar Store?  Yep!

Last year I guilded these pumpkins,

Halloween

you can see how I did them and the glass candle holders here which helped to decorate

my Thanksgiving tablescape from last year.

This year, I am doing something different.

Without floral foam in house, I decided to use plastic bags which I have an endless supply…

and build up the inside of the box.

Next, I used sheet moss

which can be purchased at your local craft store.

Then by adding scary Dollar Store crows, pumpkins, candle holders, and a little pinecone fall potpourri

a fall centerpiece is complete.

Ideally, I would like more height, but for now, this is going to work just fine.

This way we can talk with one another instead of dodging a tall centerpiece.

Always a good thing!

I added a fall throw to the back of the settee.  You can find this one at Ikea.  Throws can be used as tablecloths, drape the back of chairs to bring in fall color, or what I did here…  change out for different seasons on the back of a settee/bench.

With benches, color can also be brought in with pillows

that can change with the season as well.

I chose a french pillow which was purchased a couple of years ago at the

Country Living Fair.

This is where you can see some pretty amazing fall tablescapes that I captured in 2013 at the CL Fair.

I added some of my favorite Ballard Design vintage plates with

Home Goods placemats and napkins.

Now…  just grab a drink and utensils,

and we are set for any meal.
